Addison's Soccer Journey

About Me

Hello, I am Addison Sun and I grew up playing soccer since I was 5 years old in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada.  Soccer is my passion and I also enjoys playing volleyball and basketball.  I love travelling, reading, cooking and spending time with family and friends.  My favourite soccer players are Lionel Messi and Team Canada’s Janine Beckie, Ashley Lawrence, Jordyn Huitema and Jessie Fleming.

After years of youth house soccer, I joined the Kamloops Youth Soccer Selects team at the age of ten and played in the regional TOYSL league.  In my last year, I played up with the 2007 birth year Kamloops Blaze Selects Team before I made the move to joining the Thompson Okanagan Football Club in 2021.

TOFC (Thompson Okanagan Football Club) is the British Columbia interior regional representative of the BCSPL (BC Soccer Premier League) also known as the Tier 1 HPL (High Performance League). The BCSPL is the highest level of youth soccer within British Columbia.  My experience playing with the 2008 birth year  girls team in the BCSPL has been tremendous so far.  I have made life long friends and memories in the short three years playing for TOFC.

After three rounds of intense competition, I was honoured to have been selected to be part of the 2008 Vancouver Whitecaps Pre-Elite REX team in September 2022.  Despite being the only player from outside of the Greater Vancouver Metropolitan Area, my parents were able to drive me from Kamloops to the Christine Sinclair Community centre in Burnaby, BC (4 hour drive each way) on a weekly basis.  The experience was amazing to train with a group of elite athletes in my age group under the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Girls Elite Academy which is an official Canada Soccer National Development Centre (NDC).

In 2023, I was also identified based on my performance within the BCSPL league games to play in the BC Soccer Provincial Identification Program.  It is an honour to be recognized and to be part of the BC Soccer Provincial Program, with hopes that it will help me develop my potential to play at the highest level possible.

In 2024, I was also very fortunate to be able to play for Rivers Football Club, a League1 BC pro-amateur club based out of my home city of Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada.  The experience I attained playing with and against older University players was tremendous.
