Addison's Soccer Journey

About Me

My name is Addison Sun, and I’ve been passionate about soccer since I was five years old in Kamloops, British Columbia. In addition to soccer, I enjoy playing volleyball and basketball, as well as traveling, reading, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

I started playing soccer in local house leagues before joining the Kamloops Youth Soccer Selects team at age 10. I played in the regional TOYSL league, and in my final year with the team, I played up with the 2007 birth year Kamloops Blaze Selects. In 2021, I transitioned to the Thompson Okanagan Football Club (TOFC), which represents the interior region of British Columbia in the BC Soccer Premier League (BCSPL), the highest level of youth soccer in the province.

As part of the TOFC 2008 girls team in the BCSPL, I’ve gained valuable experience competing at the highest level. Over the last few years, I’ve formed lasting friendships and created unforgettable memories. In September 2022, after three rounds of intense competition, I was selected for the 2008 Vancouver Whitecaps Pre-Elite REX team. I was proud to be the only player selected from outside the Greater Vancouver area, and my parents supported me by making a weekly four-hour drive from Kamloops to Burnaby for training at the Christine Sinclair Community Centre.

Training with the Whitecaps Girls Elite Academy, an official Canada Soccer National Development Centre (NDC), was an incredible experience that pushed me to improve and develop alongside some of the best athletes in my age group.

In 2023, my performances in BCSPL league games earned me a spot in the BC Soccer Provincial Identification Program, an honor that further fueled my soccer development. I’m excited for the opportunity to continue growing as a player through this program, with the hope that it will lead to even greater opportunities.

In 2024, I was fortunate to join Rivers Football Club, a League1 BC pro-amateur club based in my hometown of Kamloops. Playing with and against older University players was an invaluable experience that allowed me to continue developing my skills and gain insight into the next level of competition.

I’m incredibly grateful for the support of my family, coaches, and teammates, and I’m eager to continue my journey in soccer with the hope of reaching the highest levels of the game.
